Vintage P/J setup, only 2 knobs...?

So, I've recently acquired this 1962 Precision w/ added Jazz PU.

The Precision PU's sound massive - I believe they're original 1962's. Not sure what the jazz PU is, but it sounds fine. I'd hate to tear anything out or rewire anything to preserve as much of its originality as possible...here's my dilemma...

It would seem the previous owner had wired the knobs V/V. Tone seems to be (hardwired?) at 100%, so it's really tough for me to get a mellow tone from this bass...

What are my options here?
Do I leave it as a cranked 100% tone beast? This would be a killer bass for punk, but my style needs to be more versatile than that.
Should I disconnect the Jazz PU completely and wire 2nd knob for Tone?
Is there a stack-pot option available?

What would you guys do?

I've already ruled out drilling any holes in this bass for third knob.

I have the same setup, and use one standard volume pot and one satcked pot. Controls are wired like a standard jazz bass.

like someone said before, just have 2 volume (one for each pickup) and one master tone. Just have stack volume so no routing is needed.

How about replaceing one volume control with stacked one. That returns you to seperate volumes. Then turn second volume control into master tone. Or if you like a stacked pot wired for seperate tone controls for each pup. Kinda like going SG or Les Paul style with the bass for seperate volumes and tones.
