Vintage SD-P and Qtr Pounder J

Sign in to disble this ad
I am finishing up a project with a PJ config. Was going to use EMGs I had lying around and I just don't dig the tone.
I am thinking of going with a SeymourDuncan vintage P and SD 1/4 pounder J.

I the like the vintage tone by itself and my thought is the 1/4pounder J would augment that tone with its own deep tone.

I have always found the J's in the brigdge position to be a little thin for my liking - I hear the 1/4lb -ers are pretty full and bottomy (I know thats not a word)....

Am I out in left field?

Thanks in advance for any input..

Actually I think it might be a good choice. As you mentioned, in a P+J combination it's hard to find a jazz pickup that matches output and doesn't get lost against the P pickup. If you need noiseless the Hot Stack Jazz is not a bad way to go either. Not quite as hot as the QP but a little more mids.
