Vintage Style Pups for Project Bass - Darkstars, Mudbuckers, TV Jones, etc...

I have an Epiphone Thunderbird that I am in the process of giving a "vintage sex appeal" make over by adding chrome goodies and Gibson upgrades. Even though I really don't mind the sound and output of the stock pickups, the black plastic housings just won't fit with the new vibe once it's finished. The first and obvious T-bird choice is to go with Lulls, but before I drop $600 into a $150 bass, I'm just curious if there are any other options I haven't thought of yet.

A few alternates:
  • Dual Chrome Mudbuckers
  • Darkstars
  • TV Jones

With a dual humbucker bass (such as my Starfire and my Blackbird) I usually like to roll the tone on the neck pickup off, tone up on the bridge, and run both pickups full open so I get some good thump with enough body to tell what I'm doing.

Any other ideas?

I'm in the middle of a Fenderbird build and originally wanted to use Darkstars, but apparently Fred has gone walkabout and no body has heard from him. I have one in a modded jazz bass and absolutely love it.
I've also been trying to get in touch with RS guitars because they offer a Fralin Bassbucker that I'm interested in.
I'd really like to hear more on the TV Jones pick ups as well if anyone has any info.
