violent Femmes - Brian Ritchie's ELECTRIC bass pickups?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all.

I'm trying to find out what pickups Brian Ritchie of the Femmes was using in his trusty electric bass during the 80's. I'm not too sure of the type of bass either but it can be seen on the live at the lyceum dvd from 1984 among others. They are a P-J configuration and white or cream in colour. Not sure if they would have come as standard in whatever his bass was or maybe they were a Dimarzio upgrade?

To me this electric bass is just as much his trademark sound as the mighty Ernie Ball Earthwood acoustic bass guitar he also plays.

Anyone any idea what those pickups are or indeed what type of bass that is?

Cheers.

The reason I ask is that I'm building a jazz bass that hopefully will cop that sound. More progressive yet staying passive. Been wondering for years about this!

Hope someone out there knows or has seen his bass live.
