Vol/Vol/VOl or Vol/Blend?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I am experimenting with a fender squire p-bass to try some different pup configurations and could use some advice.

I have a Reverend p-pup and just ordered some '62 ri jazz pups and am wondering what is the pros and cons of different pot configurations.

I am going to have a jazz pup at the bridge and then I am going to route enough room to be able to swith the P and the neck J in the middle/neck position. I will end up on a setting I like more I am sure but until then I am just keeping my options open.

So, my question is has anyone had experience with a similar setup (ie 3 pups) and what would the pros and cons of the vol/vol/vol vs vol(P)/Blend(J's)? Also, I ordered a replacement pot for the Tone control (it is supposed to be a stacked bass/treble control) from Guitarelectronics.com, has anyone used these and is it worth the switch?

Thanks in advance.

I would look at guitar layouts and read reviews on those since 3 pups are a lot more common there. The controls will function the same with similar results just different frequencies.

If it's bass/treble control then probability it's active which means you need a battery as well. I liked the EMG BTC fine.

You might find something of value in FAQ the bass mod link in the first paragraph of Dimento's trouble shooting guide.
