Voltage Doubler for on board preamp - where can I get one or how can I make one?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm trying to figure out a way to either purchase (ie: Fishman voltage doubler) or actually make a voltage doubler to run my Aguilar OBP-1 on board bass preamp at 18 volts but only using one single 9 volt battery. I don't think the Fishman doubler is in existance any more. Is there an easy way to make one? I'm pretty good with soldering. So, if someone can show me what parts to get and how to assemble it, I should be good to go.

Any help and shared knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

Would that do it for me? Just getting the double, soldering it up and I'm set. Can I call them myself and order direct or do I have to go thru a dealer?

Thanks for all your help.

Out of curiousity, why? No argument with the potential of 18V systems to have better headroom, but a doubler will be less efficient than a pair of batteries, ie shorter battery life.

less hassle of trying to cram and configure 2 batteries in the control cavity along with the obp-1. It's actually the older, longer preamp. I think the newer ones are smaller, correct.
