volume, blend, tone

i recently had my mim jazz rewired by a guitar tech, so that now the setup is master volume, blend, tone as opposed to volume, volume, tone. however, im getting a huge hum from both pickups, and the hum gradually increases as i use the blend knob to select a single pickup (does that make sense?) when the knob is dead center, the hum is much less noticeable, but still present. it sounds just like that single coil hum, but it's MUCH more drastic than it was before the rewiring. could this just be a grounding problem, or is it something else?
