volume knob repair?

Sign in to disble this ad
The volume knob on my AriaProII CSB 380 does not work. It is still playable I just have to crank up the amplifier volume and it makes for lots of static. Here is what I'm dealing with.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try some contact cleaner. You can buy it at Radio Shack. Work it in good by rotating the pot back and forth. If that doesn't work, a new pot is only a few bucks, if you can replace it yourself.

+1

And to the OP: Since contact cleaner is pressurized in an aerosol can, a sustained blast of it into a pot will freeze the pot's innards possibly causing damage.

Please give the pot one brief squirt of contact cleaner (use the tube which comes with the can. CAUTION: When attaching the tube to the can's spray nozzle, hold the can well away from your eyes. These things are made cheap and can unexpectedly spit the can's pressurized contents), then rotate the pot's volume/tone knob throughout its full travel several times.

Repeat this procedure if necessary.
