Volume Knobs Hardly Wokring

Ok, so my volume knobs have almost no adjustment. They really have to be turned all the way up to get sound and can only be moved about a quarter of an inch down until the sounds cuts out completely. It's a fender mexi standard jazz. Everything works fine except the volume knobs. The bass was involved in an accident but works fine other wise. Could a wire possibly come detached or are the pickups bad? Any input would be appreciated.

Odds are a wire was broken or damaged. It's also possible a connection or moving part inside the pots was damaged. It's an easy fix if you know how to solder. Otherwise it would be a quick job for a tech. And if you hadn't mentioned the accident, I would have suggested that the pots could simply be dirty- dirt can cause the problem you described.

Thanks, I appreciate the quick and helpful response. I was thinking of picking up some new pickups anyways. So I'll get my local shop to check it out. I'm really bad at soldering.
