Volume pot troubles

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been having issues with the volume pot on an old guitar that I purchased. I replaced the pot, as well as the other electronics, but the issue persists.

Let me explain the problem. At full volume, the guitar sounds great, but when I nudge the knob down, it gives a good amount of harsh feedback and jumps down in volume. After that point, the volume will decrease as I turn the knob, but there isn't as much clarity in the signal. It will also give a small amount of feedback whenever I turn the knob.

At first I thought it was a bad pot, but I got a new one and the same thing happens. Any thoughts?

I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and do some trial and error stuff: connecting only one pickup, trying new wire, etc.
