Vox amPlug and alternative methods?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, I just bought the bass amPlug yesterday, so far so good. Not a ridiculous tone shaper, but an effective practice tool, and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of getting one.

Since my bass happens to have a preamp, and runs off a 9v, I tried plugging a pair of headphones into the output jack to see if if that would work and how it would sound. I realized after trying it out that the signal coming from the bass was mono and the headphones were stereo, so I only ended up getting a sound in the left ear. Is there any way to remedy this and get sound in both ears without using the amPlug (maybe putting a mono adapter in between the bass and the headphones?).

The amPlug is a great practice tool and very convenient, but I'm on a student budget and would love to save some money if I could, given that my bass already has a preamp. Thanks for any suggestions!
