Wall wart power supply help please !!!!!

This saga started here: HELP !!! My Ebay purchased Kern came w/out a power supply. What can I use instead??
Summary: Won a Kern preamp on ebay. The end of the package came apart and the power supply was lost.
Someone with this power supply told me the exact description of what is needed:
Class 2 transformer 120VAC 60hz 30W
Output: 12VAC 1.25amp

On the site is reads: RH48T-1201250DU AC ADAPTER 12V 1250mA 30W CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER E2

It finally arives after two weeks from Canada and everything is correct EXCEPT it is 12VDC 1.25 amp output not 12VAC

Will this work ???? I am not going to plug it in until I know for sure.

Also, this particular adaptor is very hard to find.
Can I use one that is close?
How hard to have the power supply put inside the unit itself as some have done?

It's not a good idea to use a DC power supply in place of an AC power supply.

All you really need is a 10:1 step-down transformer capable of supplying 1.25A or greater. You can build your own power supply if you don't mind it not being in a nice convenient wall wart package.
