Warm up my Modulus M92-5

Sign in to disble this ad
All,

Seeking recco's on a pickup / preamp config to "warm up" the tone of my 1993 Modulus M92-5. I'm the orginal owner of the bass, buying way back then because I was in to its modern, edgy tone - thanks in large part to the stock EMG soapbar in it.

My tastes have changed and I'd really like a "warmer, more oragnic" tone for the bass. Suggestions?

I think an EMG 40TW would be just the thing for your bass.

I played one of these in a Spector (EMG J/neck, 40TW/bridge) and it was lusciously thick and warm. And with it's switching ability it'll get a little more versatility out of your one pickup bass.

The copper colored logo is way cool, too.

ETA - check the description of the 40CS for an explanation of what "ceramic & steel" is and what it does for the pickup.

Two that come to mind are the sadowsky soap and nordstrands.

Or funny, the next thread down in the forum:

EMG 40DC vs Seymour Duncan ASB2-5

There is also that new duncan pickup that is like a twin jazz in an EMG shell ... the Fodera style pickup.

My vote goes for Villex. Modulus had the Villex pickup(s) option as an upgrade
