warm/vintage sounding 5 string P\J Pick up

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search and I haven't found anything...
I have a Pbass custom built right now. A 5 string P bass. I ask the luthier to had a J pick up also.
Any way, I want a vintage sound out of the bass, I will probably put flatwound strings on it.
Who's making a good vintage sounding P\J pick up?

I think nordstrand may be a the bright side.
Barts?
Dimarzio maybe?

You might look into Lollar or Fralin.

Fralin would be perfect, but they don't seem to build 5 string P pick up.
I will send them an E-mail. They might make it but it's not on their web site yet.

Pretty much any 8 pole p-bass pickup will cover 5 strings quite nicely unless you go with a really wide string spacing. Which means you can use a 4 string p-bass pickup.

That's what I was gonna say. I have one in my P, and it sounds great.

I got an extra one I plan on using someday in a 5-string P.

You can't beat the price on these things either.

I'm on the batolini web site right now.
They describe their P pick up as "deep, smooth tone with lots of lows and low mids"

It might be a good choice also.
