Warwick $$ Battery life?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had my Warwick since July07, it's my first active bass, and have had to change the batterys three times? Could it be that leving the imput jack in or leving it on "active" shortens the battery life? Or do active basses realy need to change batterys that often?

Cheers

unplugging the jack and switching the 'active' off could possibly help to prolongue battery life

Of course leaving the cable plugged into the bass's output jack will shorten battery life. There is a third prong on the output jack on active basses that connects the battery as soon as you plug your cable into it. If you leave it plugged in while not actually using the bass the batter remains on and drains. That's why the manufacturers usually warn you about it in the users manuals. I know it's inconvenient, but it works to unplug between sets on gigs and between practice sessions at home.

Some active basses, due to circuit design, drain batteries faster than others. I have a Fender P with a Raven Labs active preamp I added when these things were still being made. It uses 2 little lithium watch batteries. Batteries will last me a year (maybe more) if I play the bass a lot. I had it out of use for 2 years sitting on a stand with old batteries in it and it still works like new a year after putting it back in use.

I unplug my bass whenever I'm not playing it, and I use it in active all the time. A year after I got the bass I'm still on the original battery!

I have an Ibanez EDB600 and the battery has gone. It's a 9v, and I don't have any more in stock. Can I still play amped or will I have to do without the amp? Thanks

If you can set it to passive it should work, but active will not work.
