Warwick Dolphin humbucker question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I have the pro I 5 that I've owned for about 8 yrs now. I noticed the humbucker has developed some "scratching" noise to it that seems to come and go on different levels. Sometimes it is extremely noisy, sometimes it is barely there and sometimes it seems it's not there at all. When I switch to single coil mode, the noise is totally gone so it seems it is just one coil causing this. My question is, can this pickup be saved or am I just going to have to pony up and order a new one? They are the MEC pu's by the way. Thanks for any advice given.

re dolphin

Hi,

I would try redoiing all the solder joints....Get the old solder off, clean things up and resolder..Sometimes when parts age and the original solder joint wasn't done right the solder connection oxidises and you can get the problems you are talking about. I would also get some contact cleaner and try cleaning the pot for the MEC... I would try that first.

Good luck
