warwick input socket - very annoying

Sign in to disble this ad
the input socket in my $$ keeps becoming loose and flopping around, every time i play it i have to open it up and fiddle with it to tighten it up manually, or risk having to re-solder the wires when they snap and become detached. surely for such an expensive and otherwise flawless bass warwick could have resolved such an obvious and stupid issue..

does anyone know if there is anything i can do to sort this out? is there a better design i can replace this crappy one with?

Actually the higher end barrel jacks that Warwick tend to use tend to break quite quickly, but they use some of the best hardware you can buy.

Is it the nut that loosens up? If so, put a little Loctite on it.

First off: Output jack/socket, not input.

Secondly: Have you properly tightened the nut that holds the jack to the body? If you've done that there shouldn't be a problem. If that doesn't do it, check to see if the threads on the nut or the jack itself are stripped and simply not holding anymore. If that's the case, then just replace the jack. It's quite an easy and cheap repair.

sorry, output jack is what i meant. the nut is as tight as i can get it, but it comes loose every time for some reason. it's all fairly new so nothing is worn or stripped, i guess the loctite idea should do the job tho. thanks..

Is it missing a lock washer?

I'd just throw a star washer under the nut.

Either loctite blue or a dab of clear nail polish on the threads.

And yes, OUTput, not INput. But it's a very common error.
