Hello all, first post here, hope I'm doing this right. I have a Warwick Corvette Std. 5 and I keep having a problem with the jack coming loose. Not sure if I'm just not getting it tight enough or what. What are the best tools for the job and should I use something like loctite on it? Appreciate all help and suggestions and am glad to be a member of the forum.
Thanks,
Tom

Just make sure you've got it on there nice and tight, shouldn't cause any problems

Seriously, there are different grades of Loctite, try getting one of the lighter-duty ones, or maybe get a second nut, if the jack's got threads enough for it. |

With the Red, you'd have to heat the part up with a hair dryer or heat gun to get it off. Maybe not so good for a Warwick bass...
If you use a tiny drop of the blue, it'sll be OK.
Or as suggested, see of you can get a 2nd nut on it...is there a lock ring (or tooth washer) under the existing nut?

There is a star washer under the nut, but under closer inspection I noticed that one of the wires is disconnected from the the solder joint on the jack. Sooooo, time to take it to a guitar tech that can do that work better than me. (Or I hope). Thanks for your replies.

I think the problem started from using a Planet Waves chord (not blaming Planet Waves) with that perforated type plug on it. Don't know if it spread the jack but after awhile my wireless plug wouldn't make good connection and it was a straight plug. After I had the jack replaced, I've had constant problems with it coming loose.

Now though my Thumb does have a volume pot problem - the knob turns and turns in the active position. But this does not happen in the passive position. I'm not sure what to do but I might replace the pre rather than just getting a new volume pot.
Best in 2010!
Dave

I recommend the red. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
