Warwick pickup problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys. I'm about to receive a Warwick in a trade that has the following problem and I wondered if any of you bass guys might know what's up with it

The passive position of the "push/pull" pot works perfectly, but the active position has no sound whatsoever. No scratchy pot.. just no sound at all. When the back was checked out, everything looks totally connected, tried a fresh 9v battery and still no luck.

Anyone have any idea what might be up with this?

If the passive mode works fine, but the active mode does not work, even with new batteries, that sounds to me like the preamp is dead.

Unless you have another preamp to put in, i would pass on that trade deal.

+1 preamp or the switch itself is not making contact. Yep, pass on it or spend $$$ to repair it.

My old (early 90's) Warwick push/pull pot started doing this as well. I cleaned the heck out of the pot w/ contact cleaner & now it works perfectly again. Good luck!

FWIW, If it were me I'd change the pre-amp in it anyway. I guess it depends on what the trade is, but if I really liked the 'wick I'd probably do it.
