Is it an active Corvette? If so, you may be better off replacing the preamp - the Warwick one seems to compress the sound.

I highly recommend taking out those crappy MECīs and put some Basslines in there.

I couldnt believe the improvement when I did it to a Warwick Streamer LX I had. (I still get to play it sometimes.. and the sound is still great to my ears.)

Did you replace the preamp too?

Funny, I took out EMGs that had replaced Basslines in my used Thumb, and replaced them with with MEC golds, that I got from Dana B. Goodes. I love the MECs, and wouldn't dream of having anything else in there. Growl of the gods...

Great for you man! How did the Basslines sound in there, earlier? Got a MEC preamp in it, or?

Actually, The bass had apparently shipped with Basslines stock, and the previous owner had fitted EMGs. I thought the EMGs sounded too sterile, and I chose to replace them with the stick MECs, which I ordered from Dana B. Goodes, even though the seller had included the "stock" Basslines.

Hmm last question - i got option to buy czech !!!handmade!!! pickups (great references!!!)
open-Al-Ni-Co ... this is manufacter recommend for ash wood, clasical jazz bass sound, wood will have more space too play ( pickups influence on sound no so big)

closed - Sa-Co
higher output, but more influence on sound from pickups...

Yes, with a Basslines STC3

To me.. the basslines bring all the Low Mid Growl that the Warwick can produce.

There is growl with the MECs, but not bottom.

Has anyone dropped Nordstrands into a Warwich and replaced the Pre with an Aguilar?

That would be a sound worth hearing I think.

How about Lindy Fralin jazz pickups instead of
stock MEC on my Corvette 4 string Standard?
Did anyone try LF-s?

EMG Selects!

...No, I'm not kidding

I bought some Dimarzio Ultra Jazz too, and preferred the Selects over the MEC's and Ultra Jazzes.

I haven't tried anything else, so I'm not saying there isn't anything better...just that I like 'em just fine in my Rockbass Corvette, and happily disposed of the MECs and Dimarzios in their favour.

Thumbs (my 5 string, anyhow) have two bridge length (long) J-pickups. The standard Jazz Bass (short) neck pickup is 3-5/8" long which is slightly shorter than the (long) bridge pickup which is 3-3/4" long.

I too am curious how Fralin's sound in a Warwick.

I'm seriously considering replacing the preamp in my Corvette Standard with an Aguilar OBP-2. Aguilar + MEC is said to be a good match. Heck, anything's better than the stock MEC preamp. The boosted lows get really muddy and the boosted highs get really harsh and peaky.

lets get meter and measure
i measured it (dont remember exact dimensions) and neck pickup is smaller than bridge - so you must have this on mind when you order replacement - i think its standard 2 different sized pickups
