Hey,

I have Bartolini pickups and preamp on my Thumb. Not wanting to wear the battery down prematurely, I have always unplugged the bass when not in use.

Sometimes, on accident I have left the bass plugged in. In those cases, most of the time the battery seemed fine but a very few times it was wore out.

Now my question is this...Does the volume knob act as an on/off switch? I'm not thinking that it is actually a switch but just that the gain is very, very low so it is basically off.

Not unplugging all the time would be nice. It didn't matter a few years ago but the ground is getting farther and farther away every year and the cords are starting to move when I grab for them.

Know what I mean?

If anyone knows how Bart electronics are set up and could give me a bit of insight I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Joe.
