Washburn 500 series pickups

Hi all,
I have a Washburn Bantam XB125 bass. It has active/passive pickups and I have a problem that I'm hoping someone else can help with. My pickups won't work in the active position. When the tone button is pulled out, they go passive and work wonderfully. I've changed the battery but to no avail. I'm hoping this may be a simple wiring problem though I can't see how that would have happened. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like the pickups themselves are not active - there is a separate onboard preamp that is not working for some reason.

First thing I would look for is a break in the battery connection - stressed wire, bad solder joint. Check at the output jack as well since onboard pre's always incorporate some form of switching, there. Hopefully there's something simple and obvious.

If not, at least you know the pickups themselves still work. If you can't eventually revive the stock preamp, you could seize the opportunity and upgrade it - there are many excellent offerings out there.

Good luck! HTH...
