Washburn T24 "help"

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello Everyone,

Brilliant, I have actually found a site focused on Bass!

I have a question if someone could help.

I purchased a Washburn t24 a few years back, it’s a really nice looking guitar so I have chosen to change the pickups.

I am thinking EMG's J Set but wasn’t sure if these were strictly for a 4 string bass?

I also came across Seymour Duncan’s quarter pounders, I have seen these fit in a Washburn. The only problem with these are I’m more of a funk player, while the Seymour pickups seem to fit more of a hard rock genre, please tell me different if not?

On the whole, I’m really looking for some advice or recommendations, or if someone prevouisly has done the same to there washburn t24?

I would be very pleased if you could share the knowledge ha-ha

Cheers
(sorry if this thread has been posted twice)

Be aware that the Washburn T-24 does not use standard sized Jazz pickups. Therefore, replacement Jazz pickups (from any maker) will not fit without routing out the body.

See here: comment on diMarzio ultrajazz pickups

They won't fit. The Washburn pups are longer, and the mounting screw "saddles" don't line up with the routing of the bass.

Measure 'em, and compare to the dimensions of the Dimarzios.... you'll see what I mean.... Yep, they are shorter in length.

But the real problem is, as I mentioned..... the four mounting shoulders on each pup don't line up with the routes on the Taurus. I have a T24, and I had a set of Dimarzio Model J's lying around, so I pulled a pickup from the Taurus to try a "test-fit". The mounting screw shoulders on the ABT pups are a good bit further apart on each long side, and the only way to install the Dimarzios would be to route the body of the bass to accomodate the outline of the Dimarzio.

BTW, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I was pretty aggravated myself when I lined 'em up.
And here: Advice

I only know this because I considered buying a T24 a few years back, and found numerous threads that said the exact same thing.

Oh, and welcome to TalkBass!
