Wax potting?

How to do that?

Short story: I modded a pair of Nordstrand Fat Stacks to fit into dual-J covers. My work was a bit crude visually but the sonic result is good, the pole-pieces are right there where I want them to be. But my cut wasn't 100% exact so pickups oh-so slightly float in the covers.

I am thinking (but not sure) of wax potting them to remedy this but I don't know how to do. Good idea? Bad idea? Any pointers, links?

Hi.

Wax potting is usually done to avoid microphonics by dipping the pickup/bobbins into a bath of molten wax.

Wax-potting just one pickup isn't feasible IMHO, and encapsulating the bobbins in epoxy is what I think You're after anyway.

IIRC StewMac sells a epoxy kit for pickups.

T-Bird, thanks,

You may be right. I only need them to be fixed in place, I don't have any microphonics problem. Thanks for the StewMac hint, I am not in US, but I can find epoxy locally. Is there anything that I need to be careful for in order to avoid damaging the pickups?
