Question Weird Amp/New bass problem.

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay I just bought a Warwick Rockbass Classic.

I currently have an old peavey tnt150 amp, and an old squire bass at home.

I took the new bass home and got no signal out of the amp on it, when i plugged it directly into the computer I did get a signal. In both cases I was just using a standard quarter inch cable I use for synths.

The weird thing is when I plugthe old squire into the bass, it does get a signal (although i did have to swiggle the end going into an amp a bit to get it, but once i did it stayed).

The new bass gets no signal, no matter how much I swivvel it, and push it in on both ends. I even did a test, where the old bass worked, i left everything how it was and tried the new both, got no sound, then left everything and went back to the old bass and got sound again.

Please help i wanna play ma new bass out of an amp!

Thanks in advance.

Does this bass have active electronics? If so, does it use a 9V battery? If so, does the battery pass the tongue test? I don't know anything about this bass, just thinking out loud.

Looks like it is active. If this is the "rockbass classic" he's talking about: http://www.warwickrockbass.com/corvetteclassic.htm

Angry

I have the very same bass but am having a different problem with it....

The bass was distorting a while back so I decided to replace the battery thinking that it was just a simple issue, since then the output level has been too hot. When I plug it in to my amp I have to use the -10dB pad but the problem is that I use a compression pedal before going into the amp which makes it incredibly distorted. I have no idea how to solve this issue, I have trimmed the gain as much as possible on the pedal but still getting some distortion.

Anyone know of any possible way around this or what it could be?

Help!

So you're saying the output of the bass can't be run all the way down to zero?

No, he's saying he hasn't tried turning down the volume knob on the bass.

Again: Did you check the battery. Does it pass the tongue test. Can't go any further w/o answers.

Hey been really busy so had to put this on hold.

I did try the tounge test and the battery is definatly alive and well hehehe.

Please help i so want to crank my new bass.

Is the next step getting the amp checked out? I should also not that while it works for the squire, it does need a littl ewiggling to get the signal coming through opposed to just crackle (which is what i get when i plug the rockbass in).

What i dont get is why the same quarter inch cable gets signal on one bass and not the other, no one i've spoken to can get their head around it.

Any help would be appriciated
