Weird T-40 problem...

Got my T-40 yesterday, all the controls work how they should and everything except one thing. When I turn the volume knobs all the way down, I can still hear the bass through my speakers just quiet. Even stranger, is if I turn my distortion (Supercollider) on while the volumes are turned down, it'll boost the quiet signal back up to full volume, like the volume knobs are all the way up. Normally if I have the volume backed off on a bass, the distortion won't affect the signal in this way. It's not a huge deal, because I never touch the volume knobs on my basses, but I'd still like to figure out what's going on here.

I'm thinking maybe something isn't grounded right but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

Does it do it with each pot individually? Could be bad pots, but I'm guessing a ground problem. Is there hum?

The first place I would check is where the #3 terminal on the volume pot is soldered to the pot casing.

Yes. When I select just one pickup or the other it does it, but it seems like it's louder when both are selected. And no, there is no hum at all. Other than this one problem everything seems to be working exactly as it should. I did take the pickguard off yesterday to tighten the input jack, at a glance, all the wiring seemed to be in place. I don't really feel like taking the pickguard off again right now, as it's a bit of a hassle but I'll check everything this weekend.
