Mute button does work both DI and speaker... it only happenned that single time and we tried to get it working for about ten minutes...

I have no noise gate in chain...both plugged into the passive input... and he was thumping in the FOH but zilch in speaker...

I am leaniung toward the bad mojo spirits thing for him honestly lol when you get called out first and last name as introduce by your singer with the band cranking and strut out to the front of the catwalk, raise that bass and "solo", four straight open E quarter notes, with a look like you just channelled Jaco, you surely have spirit issue...just sayin

This is one of my biggest fears. You have a killer rig that you would love to hear someone else play their bass through and would love to share. Then all of a sudden it doesn't work. Not only is it embarrassing, but I can't help but think the other person thinks you just don't want to share. I hope the other guy wasn't too upset.

He got a little pissy when I asked, "What did you do?" which was a question to troubleshoot it not an attack so he layed off like it was something wrong with my stuff... its just weird cause his bass worked on his combo... He wasn't too bad about it tho...I was just pissed thinking I'd be replaceing gear the next day for the next night!! I was instantly happy when it miraculously worked for me the set after his..

My only guess is the fact that you're running active and he had a passive bass was the issue. What exactly , I couldn't tell you, but it's the only thing that makes sense.

It's either aliens, or you made this story up, but I'm going with the former.

I had something similar, but in reverse, happen once.

Bass player before me used my rig for an hour-long set with no problems.

Barely into the first song of my set, volume dropped to nearly inaudible. Shut it down and used PA only. About 1/2 hour later I fired it back up and everything was fine.

I'd have suspected a heat-related problem, except that the chassis was barely above room room temperature and the amp (G-K 1001RB-II) had/has been pushed much harder, for much longer, under hotter conditions. Never a problem before or since. I chaulk it up to Gremlins having some fun on that particular night.

I vote for the mute switch.

I had one fail after soundcheck once and we were totally flummoxed. Turned out it had frozen without tripping the indicator light.

I predict you will take it in for service and the tech will not be able to repeat the problem.

(So, yeah. Aliens.)
