I have a soldering iron that can switch from 25W and 40W and got solder that melts at 430 F. I tried to desolder a broken joint on my American fender but its not melting even though I put the hot tip on the joint for like 10 minutes. What am I doing wrong? I tried both settings. The iron works fine. The melted solder isn't remelting.
Bass is the most underrated instrument in the whole world. You won't get the ladies as a bassist, but in the music world, you're just as important
Be sure your tip reaches full temp BEFORE applying to the work,
then it should only take a few seconds-
If full temp is not reached first, the work acts like a heat-sink and will destroy the component before melting temp is reached.
