I have an old Vester 5 string and it's loaded with passives and I am wanting to put actives in it.I know it's not a super expensive bass but it's got a sweet narrow neck and plays very well.My problem is when I change basses on stage it sounds very thin with No Balls. So then I have to mess with my amp settings(vol, eq,etc.)this is a hassle. My main bass is a early 90's Fender Jazz Deluxe(USA)loaded with 2 active rails and it sounds super. My goal is to get as close to the sound of my fender as possible at least get a little more Balls. thanks Moe84

I don't know what the 'best' actives are, but EMG or Seymour Duncan actives would give you plenty of output and are available in a P-J configuration.
