So I figure you don't think it would be worth to replace the Lakland/Hansons in a DJ4 with Nordies NJ4 60s wind? |
Aguilars sound very dry and almost boring to me. Very similar to fender AVRI pickups.
Nordstrands sound edgy and hyped. Good, but excessively colored for me.
Fralins are round, fat, textured, but with a little edge that let's them grip a mix. On the mellow side, but awesome.
Hansons sound just like the fralins but with a little more top. Super well balanced, with attitude and soul.
I'll also throw Duncan 67/70 in the mix. Punchy, fat, balanced. More to the point and less nuanced. A great rock pickup.
No way I'd swap the pickups in the DJ, there is no upside there, unless you want to swap over to the huge warmth of a Duncan antiquity 2, which are not available for 5 string so I have not mentioned their awesomeness. Duncan quoted me 350ish to make a set for 5 string.
