What levels for what kind of feel
Hey, I have a 2009 American Standard Jazz Bass and it has volume knobs for both pickups, anybody care to give me some tips on what levels i should put each pickup at for a different feel? For example, what would i put each pickup at to get a jazz/driven/funky/etc kind of feel to the bass?
Start with both on max. Then roll off one or the other a little bit. Listen to the sound shift for both slightly toward bridge and slightly toward neck. Become familair with your basses tone variations from pup mixing. Once you become familair with the change from small roll off of either pup. Become familair with further changes from rolling either off more. Also notice any tone and sound change that results from slightly rolling off both pups about the same. Sometimes this can be useful with hop pups. As in little more articulation and little less drive from overdrive pedals/effect.
To many variables for different pups along with neck and body woods and any active eq preamp or passive tone circuit. That there is no magickal or specific vol knob postion for each pups volume controls. Its simply matter of twiddle and listen and learn from that.
