| What pickups are in the original bass in which the Geddy Lee bass is modeled after?

I would love to own a Fender Geddy bass, so don't think of this as a jab at them.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that Geddy Lee's famous fender jazz bass actually had aftermarket pickups in it and not the original Fender pups? I would love to know what he actually has in that bass, if anyone has any info?
