Cool What pickups and preamp is right for me?

Sign in to disble this ad
I play fusion, jazz, progressive rock, indian, and gospel. I was wondering what kind of pickups have a good clean piano like clarity, also chimy, and can pickups a lot of nuance, like harmonics and a preamp that is very chameleon like meaning very versatile. I am putting it in a 6 string bass I am making.

Really appreciate your input,

The Irish Ox

+1 to delano as well. They not too aggressive to me and fits well with most of the music.

I'd suggest you contact bestbassgear.com for Dingwall pickups. They are JUST what you ask for

Q tuners are supposed to be really clear and pure. People talk about them sounding like a veil has been lifted from their sound, like they can hear the full thing with the Q's, where before they could only hear the bits of it that their PUps were letting them hear.

For a pre, I'd suggest Glockenklang. They keep a very pure, organic voice, and sound exactly the same passive as they do when active and set flat. What every pre should do IMO

+1 for Dingwalls. Actually, I'm going for a Dingwall FD-3/Glockenklang pre setup on my bass soon. For even more versatility though, you might want to check out the audere and the acg/east preamps which offer a little more than just eq. Even better, you could add a villex passive booster, which is very nice indeed.
