What pickups should I get?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I'm from Argentina (where everything is REALLY expensive), and a friend is going to USA (New York), so it's my opportunity to get new pickups.

I have an old Ibanez SR-405, with active EQ, but with passive pickups, the stock DX5.

I play mostly hardcore metal. I want a clear, defined sound, with nice mids (and good low-end, remember the 5th string)
The SR-405 has two soapbar pickups.

What can you recommend me? I know you will probably say "EMG", but I have no idea about the different models, so please be specific! I have to tell my friend EXACTLY what to get.
I think that the EMG40 would fit, but there are many different models.

Thanks!

I don't know if I should get a set of EMG40 DC's, a set of EMG40 CS's, a set of EMG40 P5 or a combination of any of these...
anyone knows what should I do to get the sound I want?

thanks!
