What pots for a Squier?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have to replace the pots in my Squier Jazz. I use it as my back-up bass. I have an Ibanez SR700 for my main bass. So I don't really want to spend tons of money on pots for my Squier. To be honest with you, I know practically nothing about pots. Any suggestions.

250K pots is the generally accepted value for pots that control single-coil pickups as on a Jazz. This is a good site for electronics:

Pots are like 6 bucks a piece. No fortune involved. You'll need mini pots. Bourns are good, CTS.

I swapped the pots on my Squier P-Special bass (PJ config) from the cheap, asian 500k pots to CTS 250k pots. I can only recommend them, I noticed a definite improvement. You do need to widen the holes on the pickguard though, since the asian pots are smaller than the CTS.
