What preamp goes well with EMG jazz set?

I've using EMG jazz set and a set of very old bartonlini 2 band preamp.

The tone is very clanky sometimes and alot of treble. Was wondering is it the preamp that give too much brightless or is the pickups?

I like something that give me more darker sound

I have EMG jazz pickups in my Modulus, which for the past 20 years had an EMG BTC preamp, and I was always a bit underwhelmed with the sound of that bass: Plenty of detail and nuance and sparkle and clarity, but just not a lot of BOOTY...it didn't quite have that big phat butt-shaking chest-thumping punch that makes a bass support a band.

A little over a week ago I removed the BTC and replaced it with an ACG EQ02 preamp.

Two words: Phucking amazing.
