What size copper shielding tape for jazz bass.

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm going to pick up a roll of copper shielding tape for my fender jazz bass. Would would be a good width to get considering the cavities of the jazz bass?

They come in 1/2", 3/4", 1" and even wider.

I don't want to have to trim too much, then again, don't want to have to lay down a ton more because I got too thin a width.

thanks!

3/4" from stewmac should be enough.
But you would have to lay down it alot.
If you want it to be easier you could get wider but 3/4 is enough.

Thanks. I was reading somewhere that aluminum works as well (as in common household aluminum foil) athought it's harder to work with when you're soldering to it.

Is this true that you can use aluminum for shielding (even if maybe it's not as GOOD as copper)?

Aluminum foil from your kitchen will work great as a shield.

Might be a bit more work to get it to stick to the inside of the cavity.
