Hello,
are there any bass pickups (of any type, set-up, or brand) that sound good in mahogany bodies?
I play 80s speed metal and use a heavy pick on Rotosounds. I prefer a passive set-up.
thanks |

Sound or video examples usually help immensely to get suggestions. |

The wood seems to suck out the high-mids. I guess any p'up that was designed to compensate for that, perhaps like those used in old T-birds.

I have a P-bass made of mahogany and its not dull sounding at all. I actually bet that you would not be able to tell the difference between that bass and one made of alder. Body wood has very little inpact on your sound. If anything at all. |

Very gutsy, super detailed, plenty of output. The Warmoth body is mahogany with a zebra wood top. The Big Split is a humbucker; it's low noise would be a good asset for high-gain tones.
