What value volume pots??

Sign in to disble this ad
I am hoping to drop 2 high output humbuckers into a guitar and am planning to also drop in a 1000k tone pot too. What value volume pots should I use in conjuction with this setup or does it not matter?

500K is the typical value for pots in a humbucker-equipped guitar, 250K for single coil, and 25k for active circuits. Yes, it does matter because the wrong value pot will give you a screwy volume range, like all of the control over a small segment of the pot's travel.

Your best bet is to contact the pickup manufacturer and see if they have some sample wiring diagrams, probably online. There are also a lot of good website with information on this and a little time in a search engine will deliver a good sampling.
