| You are supposed to use a mono cable.
The insertion of a mono cable into a stereo jack causes a short between the ring and sleeve terminals which grounds the negative terminal of the battery to provide power to the preamp. If you insert a stereo TRS cable, the preamp will not be able to receive power from the battery. |
