I bought a preamp for a bass, but it came with a stereo jack. I only have a mono chord at my place, so I was wondering if it will work or not. I already soldered it the way the diagram said further down this page SB-2A Active 2 Band Equalizer EQ Harness Guitar Bass - eBay (item 110710331294 end time Aug-02-11 08:35:39 PDT).

You are supposed to use a mono cable.

The insertion of a mono cable into a stereo jack causes a short between the ring and sleeve terminals which grounds the negative terminal of the battery to provide power to the preamp. If you insert a stereo TRS cable, the preamp will not be able to receive power from the battery.
