What will the sound of fender flats on a double humbucker pickup bass sound like?

Once I get the money, I'm definitely going to put some medium gauge strings on my 1970 Teisco made Kimberly Bass. People always say that flats sound great on P-Basses, and I'm thinking that it might even sound better on my double humbucker(active) bass. Is this the case, or will the sound be entirely different?

They will sound purple and cloudy with some occasional streaks of red and silver. IMO/IME/YMMV.

Joking with you, because tone is very difficult to describe in words even when dealing with somewhat consistent factors like "P bass" or "J bass". But when you've got barely-defined factors like a Teisco-made Kimberly and an "active bass with humbuckers", all bets are off. There is no way anyone can reasonably tell you in words how that will sound. Simply not possible, unless somebody has the exact same bass as you, and puts on the exact same flats, and plays through the same rig with the same playing style, and even then you have to hope that this person is more articulate than average.

Well, I have a Daisy Rock bass (giant POS if you ask me, can't get any usable tone with roundwounds on it). Now, I used to haveflats on it for chits and wiggles, and I was decently suprised with it. It was a very full and deep sound; I used it to play along to Sublime with.

My suggestion: buy some flats and try it for yourself. Worst thing that happens is you dont like it and you have some flats lying around
