Hey TB I just picked up an old 80's peavey fury and the cat who sold it told me his buddy spent "$250" on a pickup upgrade but he didn't know what model

I took it apart to scope out this mystery pickup. But it looks pretty stock to me. I could care less if they are stock because I hear the fury pickups are pretty solid themselves, but I'd like to be sure just on the off chance its some $250 hyper boutique P pickup

let me know that you think. thanky

yeah I didn't take the guy very seriously, but the price was right $300 for the bass which is like pristine with the hardcase.

Any idea about the pickup?/bump

That looks exactly like a MIM Fender Precision Standard pickup.

Flip it over- are there 2 small "bars" glued to the bottom of the bobbin? If so, those are ceramic magnets...and steel slugs. If I recall correctly, the resistance measured around 4.75k for the pair- very, very low for a P bass set!

Nope. The poles pieces are the real deal, should have mentioned that.

Id love for someone with a fury pickup to compare

Congrats! I've never seen my MIM P pickups under the pickguard.

We'd like to see photos of your Fury.

The peavey owners group could probably give you a quicker and more solid answer.
