| | | | What's the best cable (for the price) available at Samash?

I have a gift card for $350, and besides having my new Warwick set up, I thought I'd use it to get a new cable for myself, and a new cable for my dad, since my trumpet player killed his at a gig I borrowed it for.
Neither has to be very long, if that's an issue. Mine only has to be able to reach my pedal chain and be long enough to use if something happens to my wireless system, and my dad just messes with his guitar in his room at home. I know Monster cables are overpriced, and mine stopped working on me a little while ago, so I'm steering away form those unless they really are the best.
So TB, hit me! |

They have a lifetime guarantee, so if you still have your non-working cable, you should be able to take it back to any authorized monster cable dealer and they'll replace it, no questions. I've had two monster cables, that were given to me, replaced at different times through guitar center and honestly, I don't know if they were originally purchased there, but that's how it works.

If they were, no one would ever have to use the warranty, but everyone always seems to end up doing that. I would get some of Butch Ammons cables and call it a day, unless you can solder yourself, in which case, go to redco.com, get some Canare cable and some ends and have at it. No sense in wasting money on a cable that will break sooner than its price tag would have you believe.

| | | Hmm... but if a new Monster cable is basically free, that puts a whole new perspective on things If I can really just walk into Samash with the broken one and no receipt and tell em I want a new one, that sounds like the best solution |

Having a Monster cable won't help with that. I own Monster cables (purchased back in my naive youth), but have since switched to less expensive cables I can afford to loose.

There is a happy middle ground, though.
Unless you need the "bling" factor of a high-end cable for whatever reason...conspicuous consumption and all...

The ends of the Monster Cable are slightly larger than cheaper cables, for a 'better fit.' The problem, and it gets worse with Warwicks, is that the cable, for lack of a better term, stretches out the jack on the bass, and eventually leads to intermittent sound. Do a search, a whole bunch of people with Warwicks and Monster Cables on here have had this problem.

They are specially engineered to have the LOWEST capacitance per foot of ANY instrument cable - this means the least loss of highs and transients. Those that have tried them say the difference is amazing. Worth checking out.
There is much more to your cord than how it is made.

I think someone recommended http://www.redco.com. For the prices I saw on there you really can't go wrong. Even if you don't know how to solder it's really easy and definetly worth it to learn. |
