im thinking bout replacing my pick-ups on my MIM Jazz cuz i think it sounds too warm and smooth tho i dig the thick sounds of P-basses and Stingrays.

IMHO the thickest sounding J pickups are Villex V2JLH pickups. They are thick, yet they have great clarity as well

Dimarzio Model J's are pretty warm, thick and growly.

U could also do the pretty simple S1 type mod to it- adding a DPDT switch -either in a push/pull pot incorporated in a volume control- or as a mini toggle. This puts the pups into parallel(or is it to series) as my S1 jazz does & it does give it a real close P-bass sound- far meatier & thicker. If U can do this yr self it's VERY cheap to do & not hard if U can solder. There are threads on how to do it w/ diagrams IIRC- try the search.

+1 I dropped a set of these into my Custom Shop Jazz and, man!, am I happy. No more single coil buzz is a big plus too.

Another +1 for the dimarzio model J, my SX Jazz sounds almost liek a P-J bass when I crank the model J in the neck.

I'd vote for DiMarzio Model J's. I have a set in my custom jazz and really love them.

Here's a song i recorded with them a while back that, to me, is a great representation of what Model J's sound like. You'll have to excuse the Fruity Loops programmed drums and my rather uneven guitar playing:
