What's the use of bass tone knob?

I have a 2-pickup bass with a 2-way EQ. I'm pretty happy with what blend knob does, blending between fatter and brighter midrangey tones through a darker scooped tone, I like the treble knob adding attack or removing annoying zing, but bass knob... It just makes notes uneven, either boomy or thin. How can I use the bass knob for better results?

You don't 'have' to use it. Keep it flat (should be a middle detented area you can feel when turning it) and nudge it subtly to boost a bit or cut a bit depending what you need or want tonally.

Same with Treble.

The key is to not use too much. I usually keep a little bass boost going, or use a little more if I'm soloing the bridge pickup.

If you sound gets too boomy, try turning down the bass at the amp, and then add it back with the onboard EQ. That will give you more leeway.

I also usually have a bit of bass boosted on my active basses, and the treble usually flat or cut a bit. I almost never boost treble.

My Markbass F1 bass head is also set almost flat ( Everything straight up with no boost or cut)
