When tone is turned up..

On my mexican jazz bass when ever the tone knob is turned on starts to hum. I just recently put in seymour duncan pickups. My first thought that came to mind is that I might have to replace the pots? its a 90's mexican jazz bass.

Any advice is apreciated

Is the hum only when its all the way up, or does it increase as you turn it up?

A tone control decreased the high end in your signal, so it sounds to me like you are just increasing the noise buy turning up the tone knob...
