Where can I buy active EMGs??

Sign in to disble this ad
Just a quick few questions...

Where does everybody purchase their active EMGs (P/J). I'm planning to defret and mod my old GSR200, but guitarcenter only sells the passive EMG sets. I have a feeling that active pickups might help compensate for the lack of tonewoods in the GSR200, but I could be wrong. Would the passives work just as well??

Anyways...is there an online store with the active EMGs?

Also...would anybody recommend the SD pro-active PJ set over the EMGs?? I have the SD ABJ5s in my warmoth parts bass, and they rock...just not sure how they all compare...

Thanks all!

Just do a google search. You'll come up with several online sources for EMG's.

I just ordered a J set for guitarpartsdepot.com

I've had great service from them in the past.

google search...

I guess I'm just not familiar with a lot of the companies that come up when I do a google search. i.e., I don't know how competent/reliable/trustworthy those random online sites are. I checked out guitardepot, but their active EMG webpage wasn't working. Anyways...I'm sure I can call them...

Any comments on pick-up preference? I've never played/heard the EMGs, or dimarzios (which people seem to like around here). Also, I haven't been able to find much info about the SD pro-active PJs from the search function...is anybody using these?

The last active EMG PUs I got were installed in my 4001 by the founder of the company in his bedroom. They have come a long way since then.

EMG's website (www.emginc.com) has a list of online dealers and stores by state:
