I've got an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp that I'm wanting to install, but I need to find some long-shaft blend pots. Also, if possible, I would love to get at least one of those to be a concentric, but that's probably asking a lot. Where can you get these things? I didn't find any at Stew Mac or Allparts.com.
Also, Mods, if this is the wrong forum, feel free to move it to somewhere more appropriate. |

I looked on maplin.com, and I wasn't able to find any pots. |

My luthier didn't want to rout out the control cavity any further, so he suggested I find long shaft pots. I found single pots with long shafts but no concentrics.
Sighing, I decided I would settle for a J Bass style set-up (two tone controls and a blend). But I can't find a blend/balance pot with a long shaft anywhere online.
Seems this is an ongoing problem based on the age of this thread... |

I carry the Bourns blends which has a 3/8" long shaft. You can also get them from AllParts, WD Music, and Tubes and More.

I honestly can't say if it's a long shaft or not - but there it is.

I honestly can't say if it's a long shaft or not - but there it is. | That's a "blender pot" not a pickup blend pot. A pickup blend pot is a dual ganged pot, like this:
That CTS "blender" pot is a regular "no load" pot. It's used for mixing the neck and bridge pickups together on a Strat. Quote: |
Much like the Fender "No Load" pot the Mojo Blender pot acts as a true bypass when rotated between 9 and 10. The main difference from the "No Load" is that the Mojo Blender pot has the dished back and there is no click feel between 9 and 10. The Mojo Blender pot is best used for true bypass tone control or Blender wiring.

I literally spent an hour last week and an additional hour yesterday going through all the usual sites (AllParts, Guitar Parts Resource, Guitar Parts Depot, etc...) with no luck. Even contacted CTS directly and asked about specific pots and got blanked.
Guess I'm going to just rout out the inside of the control cavity. Whee. |

I have a VBT setup on my rear-routed PJ, using a standard blend pot with a 3/8" long bushing. I just routed the rear cavity so the wood thickness was 3/16" in the immediate vicinity of the blend pot. One internal tooth lockwasher on the inside, a thin finish washer and thin nut on the outside.
Never had any problems with it, and it's now several years old.
