Who installed you Darkstars

I'm thinking about having Darkstars installed in one of my basses, but I can't do the routing and placement myself. Who installed yours? Did they do good work in a relatively quick time? How well do the strings line up with the pole peices? Any help would be appreciated.

I've done several DarkStar installs for players ... but my shop is closed for now while I relocate to Charlotte (hence why I can post this )

if you find someone locally who is skilled with a drill press and router, I can step you/them thru the process of making the cavity route if you'd be interested

drop me an e-mail if so

all the best,

R

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about doing it myself, but since I plan on using this bass for many years, I decided that I would be best to have them professionaly installed.

I installed it myself but an install is all it was cause I set my basses up routeless years ago so I can stick any pup anywhere.

Routing is not for the novice but the install you could do yourself. Fred has the route specs on his site. You can get DS in either F or the stock G spacing and I don't think he charges extra for F. Unless you've got that narrow scale stay away from the G spacing. Fred also has shorter adustment screws for the tangs than stock and I'm sure he'll throw those in if you ask - good to have even if you don't use them cause they'll cut roughly a 1/4" off the route depth which allowed me to install the pup in my 3/4 depth route (1" depth is his spec).
