Who makes a good 6-string J pickup?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking to replace the pickups in my Brownsville 6. Aguilar OBP-3 preamp and I tune F# to G. I need punch and lows...nothing too mellow; I've got my fretless for that.

Any ideas?

Brian Barrett of The Low End makes the pickups for his LEJ and Benevente basses:

IIRC, Delano's JC-6 was regarded as a fairly good pickup. No personal experience, though.

I have personal experience with the Benevente's... Amazing pickups...

Single coil J bridge growl to MM/Alembic bottom end thump and transparency for slap to fat and punchy P type sound.... Brian Barrett is a genius!

The Bill Lawrence J-45 is reputed to work for a six-string...depending on the string spacing of your instrument...
